Although timber typically exceeds nontimber forest products in value, opportunities xist o manage for both, to the benefit of different groups. Of nontimber products, the wild mushroom industry in the Pacific Northwest, estimated at $41.1 million in 1992, is second only to the $128.5 million harvest of floral greens (Schlosser and Blatner 1995).
